In Cite La Cure, Enda Byres and his partners laid the foundations of the club by turning a wasteland into a football space.
La Cure Waves Sports Association, located at 13 Agra Street, Residence La Cure, is much more than a football club. It carries a story of vision, resilience, and passion passed down from generation to generation.
The journey began in 1966, with the arrival in Mauritius of members of an international volunteer service who came to support young people through education and physical, mental, and spiritual development. In that setting, Mr. Enda Byres, a football enthusiast, founded La Cure Waves with his friend David, later joined by John Dorlin and Roger Manon.
With no facilities or resources, they cleared an abandoned field and turned it into a real football ground. Inspired by his club in Ireland, Enda chose the name Waves: La Cure Waves was born.
From 1977 onward, the club built a reputation across the island through committed football, strong tactical discipline, and genuine popular support. The name La Cure Waves became synonymous with fighting spirit and respect.
After years of perseverance, a turning point came in 2018: promotion to the Second Division, then steady progress between 2018 and 2023, before a historic rise to the First Division in 2023-2024.
In its very first First Division season, the club achieved the remarkable feat of 18 matches, 18 wins, and immediate promotion to the Mauritian Super League. In 2024-2025, La Cure Waves confirmed its place among the elite: Super League runner-up and winner of the Republic Cup.
La Cure Waves is a family, a community pride, and a symbol of hope for young people. From a local wave born on a rough field, the club has become a major force in Mauritian football.
The La Cure Waves team was crowned second division champion during the 2022-2023 season.
For a full decade, La Cure Waves welcomed many players and coaches. Some were already well-known players in their time.
Today, several former players have become members of the team's executive committee, while others remain loyal supporters.
